Mind's Eye Comics Pick!! -- WildC.A.T.S. #6
WildC.A.T.S. #6, DC Comics
Writer: Matthew Rosenberg
Artist: Stephen Segovia
In what has been a really fun run so far, WildC.A.T.S. issue 6 starts to connect some dots and bring plot threads together in a very cool way. While Grifter has been off on his own investigation, questioning what he and his teammates have been ordered time and again to do, HALO continues to work behind the scenes to reshape the world. With the WildC.A.T.S. in disarray after Grifter's death was faked by Void a few issues back, Maxine, Zealot and Fairchild begin to also realize there is more going on then they're being told, and pawns on both sides continue to be maneuvered and manipulated. Even the Seven Soldiers of Victory have begun showing signs of doubt, as members of both teams begin to question which side they are really on, leading to a confrontation between Grifter and Void.
In yet another reimagining of the Wildstorm universe and its characters, writer Matthew Rosenberg has done a great job in both updating the characters so many older fans grew up reading from the 1990's and 2000's, and still remaining true to who they are. They still feel like the same characters. And yet they are undeniably updated, new versions, as well. Fairchild is the greatest example of an almost complete reimagining of her character and powers, but even the use of the Seven Soldiers of Victory is updated and cool. Also, seeing Superman and Batman debate the logic and morality of the issues going on in the comic, and whether they should even get involved or not, is on all levels very cool to see. As the series continues, twists and turns seem to be aplenty and I am here for it. Really looking forward to seeing where things go in the coming issues. Admittedly not the best jumping on point, but a very good series, worth catching up on!
