As we await the next issue of Tom Taylor's Dark Knights of Steel, where the war between the kingdoms will fully begin, we are treated in the meantime to a one shot with three different tales from this magnificently crafted "elseworlds" universe. Imagined as basically a what if the DC Universe was in medieval times, Tom Taylor has reimagined almost every recognizable DC Comics character for this setting. In each of the three tales presented here new story threads are introduced that will no doubt be further explored in the upcoming issues.
In the first tale, we see children being abducted, setting this universe's versions of Superman, Batman and Supergirl on the case, where they find a dark secret at the heart of the mystery. The second story sees Superman, Batman and Harley Quinn undercover to see the kingdom, where they uncover the operations of the Robins on the streets. In the final story, we see a remorseful version of Bane training Batman to defeat the El's (Superman's parents, who rule the main kingdom) and reclaim the throne from them. All three stories see twists, surprising character revelations and seeds for future storylines.
